Game Summaries & Headlines.
The Jamestown High School Athletic Department won four major awards for the 2016-17 school year:
1. The Red Simpson Award - this award is presented to the top overall athletic program in the Bay Rivers District.
2. The Daily Press Athletic Program of the Year - this award is presented to the top overall athletic program on the Peninsula.
3. The Claudia Dodson VHSL Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Award- this award is presented to various schools in the state of Virginia who exhibit outstanding sportsmanship on and off the court/field of play. Only 26 other schools in the state won this award. Jamestown has won this award 10 times, but none since 2009-10.
4. The 4A Wells Fargo Cup Champion - this is the most prestigious award presented by the VHSL for overall athletic excellence throughout the school year. Jamestown won this award for the 2nd time (previous winner in 2001).
